Liz Tapper

I am a professional hand embroiderer, having trained for three years at Hampton Court Palace as an apprentice at The Royal School of Needlework, where I achieved a First Class qualification in 1998.

During this time I was taught many different techniques of traditional and decorative hand embroidery, such as blackwork, whitework, goldwork, silk shading, crewelwork and tapestry shading. as well as many other techniques. I was also trained in the restoration and conservation of delicate antique textiles and embroideries.

I have worked on commissions for Harrods, Lulu Guinness, Monsoon and for television, as well as for London Fashion Week and on numerous private commissions.

I design my own embroidery kits & embroidered art, which are sent all over the world, work on a wide range of commissions and teach for the Royal School of Needlework, Embroiderers’ Guild branches and other embroidery groups, as well as running my own private classes. I also run an online shop selling Appletons crewel and tapestry wools, which can be found at www.lenhamneedlecraft.com

Currently living in Somerset in the UK, I am a Member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen.
